“The whole earth is filled with awe at Your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, You call forth songs of joy.” – Psalm 65:8 –
Creation is a display of God’s glory. The wonder and beauty of nature praises and glorifies its exalted Creator. When God created the heavens and the earth, He saw that all was good. For He pours His love into all He makes.
Nature is a window into the heart of God. His divinity is reflected in His creation. David chooses to praise and glorify his Lord in this harvest psalm, Psalm 65. He is thankful for God’s holy attributes manifested in all He has created.
“Praise awaits You, O God… Blessed is the one You choose and bring near to dwell in Your courts! We are filled with the goodness of Your house, the holiness of Your temple. With awesome deeds of righteousness You answer us, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.” – Psalm 65:1, 4-5
♦ God is infinitely loving and good
He loves to bless us, His children, and fill us with hope as we live in His divine favor and grace. We dwell in His presence and enjoy His fellowship. God’s love and goodness are evident in His creation. For our God is always good. Goodness abounds with Him. He can only act in a loving and good way toward all He has created.
“You formed the mountains by Your power, having girded Yourself with might. You stilled the roaring of the seas, the pounding of their waves, and the tumult of the nations.” – Psalm 65:6-7
♦ God is omnipotent and in control
He reigns with power, strength and glory. All creation is under His command. The eternal God forms and fixes the mountains in their places. He calms the stormy seas. His mighty and sovereign rule is seen in His absolute control over the powerful forces of nature.
“You attend to the earth and water it; with abundance You enrich it. The streams of God are full of water, for You prepare our grain by providing for the earth. You soak its furrows and level its ridges.” – Psalm 65:9-10
♦ God cares for all He creates
He showers the earth with His life-giving water. He rules as Guardian over His creation. Our God is a God of wisdom, intelligence and order. His creative design is visible in the intricate details and workings of all He has made. He supremely oversees all He has created.
“You soften it with showers and bless its growth. You crown the year with Your bounty, and Your paths overflow with plenty. The pastures of the wilderness overflow.” – Psalm 65:10-12
♦ God is abundantly generous
He draws from His infinite resources. He showers His abundant grace upon the earth. He pours forth His blessings to ensure a bountiful harvest. God’s mercy, benevolence and faithfulness are displayed in His creation. He lavishly gives over and above anything His beloved ones may need.
“The hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing… Where morning dawns, where evening fades, You call forth songs of joy.” – Psalm 65:12-13, 8
♦ God is our source of joy
He richly adorns His creation with beauty. His glorious radiance shines through all He has created. He delights to bless all with His lovingkindness and joy. His endless wonders bring gladness to heaven and earth. All creation sings praises to its majestic Creator.
Let this be your prayer of praise and thankfulness to your loving Creator…
Lord, I bow in adoration and praise before You. I am in awe of Your wonders. I revel in the beauty of all You create. I worship You and You alone, the Creator of all. As I look at Your wondrous creation, I see how mighty and vast Your love is for me. You bless me… You give me life… You give me hope. Thank You that You are in absolute control over all. I can trust that You will care for me and provide for me, generously and abundantly above and beyond what I could ask or imagine. Thank You that in You I find my everlasting joy. I will praise You all my days. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
