WE JOIN IN HEAVEN’S CELEBRATION WHEN WE PRAISE OUR LORD

“Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”Revelation 7:12 –

Praise is the music of heaven. We join with the angels when we praise our almighty God. Our hearts are joyful in His wondrous presence. Darkness flees and our enemies are scattered. Praise is our powerful spiritual weapon.

How do we reverently praise our sovereign Lord? Let us come alongside the apostle John and take a glimpse into heaven to see how those in God’s holy presence praise Him.

John is sent into exile on the island of Patmos late in life for his testimony of Jesus. While there, he is miraculously caught up into heaven in the Spirit. He is shown great and awesome sights which he records in the Book of Revelation.

Although overcome by the magnitude of his experience, John catches sight of what praise looks like in the heavenly realms. In the throne room of heaven, he beholds the glory of God seated upon His throne! Before Him are the four living creatures who praise Him day and night saying…

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”  Revelation 4:8

Around God’s throne sit the 24 elders who fall down and worship Him, laying their crowns before Him, saying…

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.”  Revelation 4:11

Then John sees, surrounding the throne, angels numbering ten thousand times ten thousand praising God. He hears their voices saying…

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.”Revelation 5:12

What a breathtaking spectacle! We can bring a little of heaven to earth when we offer this type of reverent praise to our Lord. Using these very words of worship, as overheard by the apostle John, in our own time of praise is a heaven-tested way to bring honor and glory to God. When we praise the Lord, we join in heaven’s celebration!
