GOD LONGS FOR FELLOWSHIP WITH HIS CHILDREN

Do not have your concert first and then tune your instrument afterwards. Begin the day with the Word of God and prayer, and get first of all into harmony with Him. – James Hudson Taylor, Missionary –

How often we set out on our days, pursuing our own agendas… and quite forgetting to spend time with the Lord. Perhaps we intend to have our quiet time with Him later in the day. Yet time gets away from us and life’s distractions take over.

Or we may feel distant from God, and thus not inclined to spend time with Him. Maybe a new sin has edged its way into our lives… or a besetting sin has taken up residence that we are having trouble evicting.

Imagine our Heavenly Father waiting patiently each day, hoping to have time with us. He may have wonderful ideas to share… new revelations from His Word… His wisdom to help us with our day. Or He may just desire time to show His perfect love to us.

Thou hast made us for Thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in Thee. – St. Augustine

We were created for communion with the Almighty. Our rest is in Him. He longs for fellowship with us. When He created Adam, there was absolute oneness between God and man. No barriers existed. It was a pure and perfect relationship.

After the fall, that ideal union was broken. Adam and Eve hid from God in the Garden of Eden. Their sin separated them from their Creator. Yet God had an answer…

The Creator would enter His creation, redeem His people from their sins and reconcile them unto Himself. Jesus opened the way for us to have an unending relationship with both Father and Son.

We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts. – A.W. Tozer

Our desire as believers is to spend eternity with God. Our time with Him each day cultivates this wondrous relationship. We come into His holy presence and share our innermost thoughts and dreams, fears and concerns, struggles and adversities. He will lovingly listen, align our thoughts with His and lead us into His truth. He will guide our day along the path He desires us to follow.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23

Let us then put aside all distractions and make time with God a top priority in our lives. No barriers need exist. We may have pulled away from Him, yet He never pulls away from us. Be immersed in His mercy. Be filled with His peace. Be embraced by His love. When you begin in harmony with God, your day will be blessed.
