BY FAITH WE EXPECT AND ACCEPT GOD’S BOUNTIFUL PROVISION

“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” – Matthew 6:26 –
How benevolent is our Father God. He is our Jehovah Jireh… our Provider. He offers us His abundance. He cares for our every need.
God knows the secrets of our hearts. He knows our needs before we even ask Him. He longs for us to look to Him and trust His love for us. If our compassionate heavenly Father cares so for the birds of the air, how much more does He value us… the ones He created in His own image?
Jesus performed a miracle that portrays our God as Bestower and Blesser. In the Gospel of Matthew, Peter is confronted by the tax collectors as to whether his Teacher pays the annual two-drachma temple tax. He responds that Jesus does in fact pay the required tax. Later, Jesus explains to Peter that, as children of God, they are exempt. Yet since Jesus cares to not offend the authorities, He offers Peter a solution…
“Go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for My tax and yours.” – Matthew 17:27
It took Peter’s act of faith to toss his fishing line into the Sea of Galilee and expect to catch this fish. It took God’s sovereignty over nature to place this coin, the exact amount needed for their taxes, into the mouth of the fish. What an amazing way of providing!
“My God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
God promises us His abundance. He desires our lives to overflow with His blessings. We can expect our heavenly Father to provide for us out of His bountiful generosity. His completeness becomes our completeness.
It is our act of faith to expect and accept God’s provision. We look to Him, the One who provides… for He is our portion forever. Like Peter, we may just see Him provide in amazing ways.
