GOD DRAWS US TO HIMSELF WITH HIS PERFECT LOVE

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” – 1 John 3:1 –
What is perfect love? Where is its source? How can we experience it?
Perfect love is altogether pure, compassionate, faithful, merciful. It is giving, caring, unconditional, everlasting. It fills our hearts and spirits with peace and hope. Perfect love cannot be found in this world. It is not natural… it is supernatural. All that is perfect love is manifested in God Himself.
“God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.” – 1 John 4:8-9
God is love. He is the source of eternal love. It is essential to His nature… at the heart of His very being. He cannot do anything that is not loving. He is everything that is described by perfect love. All the love of the universe is wrapped up in Him.
All mankind has a deep, innate need for love. We have a void within us that can only be filled by God’s endless love. We can search the world for anyone or anything to try to fill this void… yet nothing else will satisfy. Our God created us this way so we would look to Him as our source of perfect love.
God’s love for us is so vast, so deep, so high as to be unfathomable. We can never escape His love. It searches us out no matter where we are. He leaves the ninety-nine in search for us, the one lost sheep. When He finds us, He rejoices… for the one who was lost is now found by Him (Luke 15:4-6).
“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him.” – Psalm 103:11
God desires to show His love to His people, the crown of His creation. He longs for fellowship with us. He delights in showering us with His blessings. For we are His valued treasure… His prized possession… the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8). Nothing can ever separate us from His unfailing love.
Our God is ever-present. He is our Immanuel, “God with us”. He lives in all believers through His Spirit… a deep, abiding presence in our lives. All we could ever need or want can be found in Him. He is our heart’s desire.
How can we experience this perfect love? If God is the source, then we can experience it only by drawing near to Him. We set our hearts on finding Him. His love cannot be earned. For He loves us despite our fears and failures. Nothing we can ever do can make Him love us more.
“God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:5
God draws us to Himself with His perfect love. If our hearts are receptive to His call, we accept Him into our lives as our Savior and Lord. He comes to make His home with us (John 14:23). Our spirits are filled with His neverending love and peace. We come to belong to Him forever. Eternity makes its home within us as He becomes our life everlasting. We are sealed with an absolute guarantee of being His forevermore by the presence of His Holy Spirit.
