OUR SAVIOR HAS MADE US RIGHTEOUS IN THE EYES OF THE FATHER
__________________________________________________
“For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.” – Hebrews 10:10 –
God’s desire is for us to live with Him forever. We are called to be saints, members of His kingdom and family. Yet He reigns in absolute holiness (Isaiah 6:3). He cannot abide with sinners. God and sin can never coexist. He cannot take us into His holy presence without first removing our sins.
God’s perfection demands perfection (Matthew 5:48). Before Christ, we were all sinners without hope… with no possibility of a future living eternally with Him. God’s plan for salvation, the mystery of the ages, came to fruition in Christ. Jesus was destined to be our Savior… the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6)… the only way of salvation for all mankind.
Oftentimes, believers do not comprehend the absolute completeness of salvation. Jesus exchanged our sins for His righteousness, His holiness (Hebrews 10:14). We are no longer sinners. Our Savior gave His life for the total forgiveness of all our transgressions. When we accept His work on the cross for us, our sins are perfectly forgiven for all time… past, present and future.
God sees us as righteous, washed clean with the blood of His Son (1 John 1:7). The Holy Spirit indwells us, making us holy, pure, children of God. We are justified, delivered from sin… spotless in the eyes of the Father. For without holiness, we cannot abide in His sinless presence.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
When we trust in Christ, we become new creations. We are transformed… living new lives under His grace (Ephesians 2:8). Our old sinful natures are overridden by His holy nature reigning within us. We will still sin. Yet sin no longer enslaves us. No longer are we held captive by the desire to stray.
Through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God, believers are made holy (Titus 2:14)… irrevocably reconciled to the Father. Our identity is in Christ. We share His righteousness. He has made us worthy to abide in the presence of a righteous God.
“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 8:1
God sees us as saints not sinners. Saints are God’s chosen ones (John 1:12)… those whose names are written forever in the Book of Life… whose future is eternity with God. When He looks at us, He sees the perfect work of His Son. We are spotless, blameless, redeemed.
All believers are saints… justified, liberated from sin, rescued from evil. We are not to see ourselves as hopeless sinners, begging for forgiveness from a distant God. For sinners are bondservants to sin. We have been set free (John 8:36). If God no longer condemns us, we are not to condemn ourselves. He no longer accuses us or counts our transgressions against us.
We need to view ourselves as God views us… as the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). He unconditionally loves and accepts us as His own. The saving grace of Christ rescued us from all sin. All our iniquities are atoned for by Him. We are seated in heavenly places with Jesus (Ephesians 2:6).
The reality for all believers is God’s absolute approval and exoneration of our sins. It matters not what we feel. What counts is how God sees us. Fact overrides feelings in the Christian life. That is why we live by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7) and not by our changeable emotions.
“You are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” – Ephesians 2:19
Our Lord longs for us to live in the freedom and victory He won for us at so great a cost. Our merciful Savior is always worthy of our worship and praise. We need Him every moment of every day. We repent and keep our slates clean before Him to remain ever in right standing before God (1 John 1:9).
Until we are glorified in Christ, we will not be perfect. At times, our sinful natures will well up within us. Yet, united with our Redeemer, sin has no power over us (Romans 6:14). His Spirit now reigns within us. We can choose to overcome sin by His power and strength. We can decide to live a life led by the Spirit… a life that follows Jesus, set apart from the world… a life that exhibits kingdom values.
Choose to see yourself through God’s eyes. Believe that you are a kingdom saint in His sight and no longer a sinner. You have been redeemed. You have eternal hope. Trust that your Savior’s work for you was once for all. Accept that your true identity and worth are in Him. Live as a new creation, divinely reborn in Christ.
† Eternal Takeaway – In Christ, we are no longer hopeless sinners but kingdom saints †
